Lorretta L. Kottwitz, 79, of Watertown, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, April 26, 2014, at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown, surrounded by her loving family.
Lorretta Louise Klein was born in Madison on June 1, 1934, daughter of Carl and Edith (Freudenberg) Klein. She was a 1953 graduate of Waterloo High School. On April 23, 1955, Lorretta married Reuben G. Kottwitz at Salem Lutheran Church in Lowell. Reuben and Lorretta moved to Watertown where they raised their two sons, Larry and Mark. Larry has preceeded his mother in death on May 20, 2010. Reuben also preceeded her in death on July 15, 2010.
Lorretta was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the Richwood VFW Ladies Auxillary Post No. 7852, Gold Circle member of the ladies auxillary, past second district president of the state of Wisconsin, voice of democracy chairman, president of post no. 7852 and Cooties Ladies Auxillary. Lorretta was also active with the Jefferson and Dodge counties nursing home picnics with the VFW and the Fun-A-Roll-A-Ball. Lorretta wholeheartedly believed in helping all veterans of war in need.
Lorretta had been employed at the Watertown Pick'N Save working in the bakery for many years as well as Berres Brothers in Watertown.
Lorretta had the gift of making everyone smile with her great sense of humor and quick wit, and she loved spending time with her family. She looked forward to long talks on the phone with her sister Marge in Florida and special weekly visits from her brothers. Lorretta adored each of her three granddaughters and looked forward to seeing them. Her great grandson, Jack, brought much joy and laughter to her on his many visits.
Survivors include her son, Mark (Connie) Kottwitz, her daughter-in-law, Karen Kottwitz, three granddaughters, Stefanea (Christopher) Rucinski, Cassandra Kottwitz and Bethanea Kottwitz, a great-grandson, Jack Ford, a sister, Marge Curry, four brothers, Stanley (Donna) Klein, Roger Klein, Tom (Helen) Klein and Bill (Beverly) Klein; a siser-in-law, Mary Jane Klein; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Lorretta will be dearly missed by her family. She will forever remain in their hearts.
Lorretta was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Gene Klein and sister-in-law, Pat Klein.
Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown from 4 to 8 pm and at the church on Friday from 10 am until the time of service.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Rev. Michael Jensen officiating. Burial will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Memorials to the family would be appreciated.
